Ordering Information

Rush Orders/Turn around time on orders

We understand that you might want your costume for a specific party, gathering, or event, and that sometimes you  want your costume sooner rather than later. If you would like your item to be shipped by a certain date, please write to us at info@CareyCostuming.com and make sure that we are in a position to get it to you on time. Sometimes we can get it to you immediately, sometimes there will be a delay while we make it, and sometimes we can do it, but will have to charge you rush charges and/or rush shipping charges to get it to you on time. Rush charges are fairly rare, but may happen when there is a queue during certain seasons. 

  So, please give us the opportunity to inform  you of the situation- we  hate to disappoint anyone, and our combined communication drastically lessens the chances of that happening. In general, you will get your order long before our 4 week maximum, but  there are times when it gets very busy around here, so it might take that long. Once again, email us if you have questions. We are happy to work with deadlines!

Payment methods:

All purchases must be paid for in full at the time of ordering. Credit cards will not be charged until the order has shipped. Clothing orders may not be cancelled once work has begun on them. (Belts, bags and other accessories may be cancelled up until time of shipment.)

Mail- in orders-when sending payment by mail, print out the shopping cart page and enclose it with the payment method of your choice.  Bank checks and money orders are welcome, and work on the item will begin immediately. Sorry, but we no longer take personal checks.  Please send all mail orders to:

When your payment arrives, we will send you an e-mail acknowledging your order. 

Call- in orders- we accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover cards.  Call us at (781) 272-3440 between the hours of 8AM and 8PM Eastern Standard Time. International callers should add call 1-001-272-3440.

Online Orders- we accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover cards for online purchasing now! Please open an account with us using by clicking the "checkout " button on your  shopping cart, or "create and account" from the "login" link at the top of each page.

Purchasing Polices

We at Carey Costuming have done our best to make available all of the information you could possibly want about our clothing. Be sure to see our garment construction page for details on the clothing, and our SCA and LARPing pages for information specifically about those special construction processes.

 Please understand that there may be variations in color between cloaks made at different times, due to the supply of wool and cotton available.  If you want matching pieces of clothing, order them at the same time, and be sure to let us know that this is your intention.

Each item of clothing that you buy from Carey Costuming will be custom made, and created to your specifications. If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing to return an item, please note the following guidelines:

  • The receipt or duplicate is required on all returned garments.

  • Returns are not accepted after 30 days, unless agreed to by one of our staff members.

If you decide to return your purchase, call (781) 272-3440 for a return authorization code. Returns sent without an authorization code will not be accepted.

Shipping and Tracking Information

 All items will be shipped US Mail . Carey Costuming will email the customer with the tracking number to their package when their order is shipped, along with the US Mail  URL where that customer may track their package’s progress. For special shipping arrangements (such as rush orders and overnight delivery), e-mail us at info@CareyCostuming.com.  

All orders will be processed immediately, but please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery. Non-clothing items (belts, gloves, bags and jewelry) ship within a few days as long as they are in stock. If you are interested in finding out approximately how long your order will take (even before the order is placed), please feel free to email us at info@careycostuming.com . We are generally able to accommodate even rush orders for a modest fee- just ask!

Shipping Rate Chart:

    Shipping charges cover shipping, handling and package insurance. While the website will only accept orders within the US, we will ship internationally. 

International shipping: Customers interested in having their orders shipped internationally should contact us by email (info@careycostuming.com) and include the following information: the item(s) you are interested in ordering  (so that we can calculate shipping weight), and the address to which the order would be shipped. We will respond with your potential shipping charges, and further information as to how to place your order if you choose to. Please understand that international shipping charges are generally higher than domestic shipping charges.

Customer Privacy:

    We would like to assure you that any information that you entrust to Carey Costuming while purchasing a product (name, address, phone number, email, or credit card information) will be kept private. We DO NOT sell customer information. We think that this practice is a horrible invasion of privacy. Your personal information will only be shared with the financial institutions necessary to complete your purchase: the banks or merchant services involved. Carey Costuming will only keep your shipping information on file: you will be required to re-enter your credit card number and expiration date each time you make a purchase. This ensures you that in the event of an attack on our website (by hackers), your credit card information is still safely in your hands. 

   In order to match you to your shopping cart, this site uses something called a cookie.  A cookie is a text file, stored on your computer, which is written and accessed when you visit a web page.  We use the cookie to let your computer know which shopping cart you are using when you browse the store. (For more information about cookies you can visit online resources such as ZDNnet or Netscape.)

   Cookies do not harm your computer, and we do not use them to store any personal or private information about you.  Our cookies are set to expire after one day.
