Measurements

Sizing Chart

Many of our sizes are described in the item description beside the item photos. For items that are measured around the chest, our sizing chart is as follows:

Small 34-36” Spacer XL 46-48”
Medium 38-40” 2XL 50-52”
Large 42-44” 3XL 54-56”
4XL 58-60”

Measurements

When considering a particular item, you will see that certain measurements are necessary for a good fit. Here are our explanations for those measurements:

A Head size Regular head hole for hoods is 22 inches. Large accommodates up to a 25” head circumference. Larping
B Shoulder width This measurement should be taken from one side of the shoulders to the other. Narrow is smaller than 16”, Medium is 16-20”, and Wide is more than 20” across.
C Chest Measure the circumference of your chest just below the armpits. If you fall between measurements (i.e. you are a 41" chest), decide whether this is an item you would want to have fit more snugly or more loosely. Also, take into account the number of layers of clothing that you will be wearing under this garment.
D Waistline This is specifically for pants. Measure the circumference around your body at the point where you like to have your waistband sit, then determine your size according to the chart on the page of the item you are interested in.
E Length

Many of our items have varying lengths, so you can choose where an item falls on you. We measure length from the highest point on the shoulder (where it attaches to the neck) to the hem of the item. Many items will shrink an inch or two in length after washing (please see our Fabric Page) so this measurement should be considered approximate. Take into account that you lose a few inches in “poufing” a robe or vest over a belt.

F Inseam This is the length of the leg, as measured from the groin to the ankle. In pants made with elastic cuffs, we add a few inches to your inseam measurement so that there will be a slight “pouf” at the ankle.

Ease:
Ease is the number of inches added in the circumference of a garment to allow for movement. A slim-fitting garment may have 2” of ease, while a flowing item might have 8”. Each garment will specify how much ease it has, and that ease should be added to the larger measurement given for a size. For instance, if the size is 42-44”, and the ease is 6 inches, the garment will measure 50” in circumference. This allows you to wear other layers under the item without losing mobility.

Custom measurements
In general, we have tried to accommodate a wide variety of body shapes with our measurement system. If, however, you are simply well outside the normal scale with a fabulous height or a heroic girth, go right ahead and send us an email and ask us whether or not we can accommodate you. There may be an additional charge due to fabric costs, and sometimes we simply can’t do a particular style due to the way the fabric has to be cut, but in general we are happy to do what we can for you.
